We got up at 8 and had coffee on the verandah. It was 75 and we had no
wind on our side. After breakfast, we sat out back. It rained for
about 20 minutes at 10:20, 11:20, and then at 12:20 it started again and
didn't look like it would stop for a while. We went back to the cabin
and read until the 2:30 presentation by the CEO of the plans and status
of the cruise line. During the Q & A, he stated that what was known
currently, we would be able to make all of our ports on the agenda,
however, that could change before we get there. He also said that
Holland America was making a donation to the New Zealand Red Cross and
that we would be able to make our own contribution through the front
desk. At five, there was a "Taste of Australia" dinner around the
indoor pool. The decorations were grand and included chocolate
sculptures, beds, bean bags, and there were serving stations with pasta
dished, shrimp, chicken, lamb, crocodile, kangaroo and emu. I heard
that the kangaroo was tough, but I had some emu and it was good. The
wine and beer from Australia was free as well as an open bar for mixed
drinks. There was one man playing the diggeredoo(sp) and a trio playing
Aussie songs. We took lots of pictures and finally the crowd got too
much and we went up the the Crow's Nest at 7:30 where we had to pay for
our drinks. We stayed until 10:30 and went to the cabin to find 2
etched World Cruise 2011 wine glassed from the CEO.
