Day35 - At Sea/Bali, Indonesia
This morning was partly cloudy but warm. As we were lounging around the pool, the Captain made an announcement that we had a passenger who required on shore medical aid, so we were speeding at 22 knots to Bali (an unscheduled stop) this afternoon. Then during his daily afternoon announcements, he said that we now had 2 passengers who needed shore side medical attention. This will not delay our arrival tomorrow in Lombok. Again, we did not win at bingo. We anchored off Bali about 6 pm and they let down one of our tender boats and off-loaded the 2 ill patients, one of which was said to be in near coma, and we found out later that there was also a third passenger who had died. Heart attacks are not rare on a ship with this many older and infirm people. While waiting for the tender to return so that we could depart, we saw a very nice sunset of the end of the island. Tonight, we had a AMEX sponsored dinner in the Pinnacle Grill and the food was great. We shared a table with a most delightful couple in their 80's (he is 89). We turned in early as we have to get up at 6 am for our tour of Lombok, Indonesia.
