We awoke at 7:20 to the Captain's announcing the he was cancelling our stop in Rarotonga due to sea conditions not conducive to tender operations. It was 75 degrees with 87 percent humidity under cloudy skies and 29 knot winds. The swells were banging into the ship from two directions at 1 1/2 to 2 meters and conditions were worse than those at Easter Island. For the people who did not or could not get off at Easter Island, they were 10 days at sea before Tahiti and now there will be 6 days at sea to Auckland. We finally got up at 8:30 when Bruce announced that a new daily program would be printed and delivered reflecting a sea day. We had some coffee on the verandah but retreated to the cabin as it was very windy. The picture is the only view of Rarotonga that we saw (in our rear view mirror). We went to breakfast at 9:30 and then to the back deck where we visited with Alan & Sandra, Aart & Ellen, and Barbie. I returned to the cabin at 11:30 to update the blog and check email. I went back up at 12:30. The Captain announced that pending approval from Seattle, we could get into Auckland 12 hours early and have an extra night there. We stayed out back reading before going to the internet café to be able to access the network with our kindles and her tablet. At 4, we went to bingo but got no wins. After we dressed for dinner, we went to the Crow's Nest for happy hour until dinner time. After dinner, we went back to the Crow's Nest visiting with Peter, Don, Barbie, and Casey. We were about to leave at 10:45 since it was sort of dead, when the late ShowTime ended and it got crowded again. Natalia and Michael showed up and we stayed until 11:45.
