I got up at 6:40 and it was 50 degrees with rain. I went to breakfast at 7:10 and returned to the cabin to find a letter from the captain that:
Over the last few days, there have been an increase in the number of reported cases of gastrointestinal illness which are strongly suggestive of norovirus and we are now in prevention protocol which means that no food is self-serve and you should wash you hands with soap frequently and minimize personal contact such as shaking hands.
I got ready for the Mariners Event and got my bags out to start packing some items later in the day. I went down and got today's crossword and came back and worked it. I went to the Mariners Event at 9:50. There was one President's Club couple with 1900+ days and I was the only other one with more than 1000 days (1140 according to the anouncement0 I got another picture made with the Hotel Manager and the Captain. There were 3 presentations for Silver Medallions (300 Days) and 2 for Gold Medallions (500 days). I talked with the couple from Alaska who got their Gold and found out they live in Homer. I returned to the cabin at 11 and started packing one of my bags with things I don't need for the rest of the cruise (I hope). I am not sure how I got it all in the bags on the inbound trip. I read until time to get ready for dressy night. At 4, I went to happy hour. I went to dinner at 5 and ended up at a table with 3 ladies that I ate with several nights ago and a couple that were new to me. After dinner, I returned to the cabin to find the picture from today's Mariners Event and a letter stating that a deep cleaning would be taking place tomorrow from 9:30 to 1:30 when I would not be allowed back in my cabin. My tour ends at 10:30 so I will have to stay in the common area on deck 9 until 1:30. I also had to clear all my stuff from the bathroom shelves and the desktop by placing it in the closets or drawers. My wake up call is at 6 so I am going to bed at 9:30.
