Day 2 At Sea

  I got up at 6:50 and went to breakfast at 7:20. After breakfast, I went to pick up the daily crossword puzzle and returned to the cabin to work on it. At 9, I went up for the walk a mile and ended up walking about 1.2 miles. Next I found that Tom Mullen, our Cruise Specialists host, had been moved to the Explorers Lounge instead of the Atrium.  I visited with him for about 30 minutes and he mentioned that Don MacDonald had been in the hospital and was in rehab for a fall.  Then I went to see the ukulele lessons but they had p been moved to 10 instead of 11. I had a bloody mary and then went to lunch to have a small salad and some cookies. At 2, I went to the Crow's Nest to watch about 45 people get hula lessons.  I went back to the Crow's Nest at 4 to watch team trivia and had a Stoli Mule.  I returned to the cabin and showered and dressed for the first dressy night dinner. When I got the Main Dining Room, there was a long line of people and the only way to get seated in less than 30 minutes was to group up for a table for 9. I ate and then went to the Captain's welcome and saw the main officers. I returned to the cabin to find my first towel animal. a nice elephant. I went to bed after setting all the clocks back 1 hour.

 

Day 1 Depart San Diego At Sea

 I got checked in in record time and boarded about 11:30. The bag I sent via Luggage Forward was delivered about 12:15. My checked bag was delivered about 1and I proceeded to unpack them. I stopped to go have a salad in the Lido and then came back and finished unpacking about 2.  At 4, we had a mandatory drill and I went up to the sail away for a drink but only stayed a short time. I went back to the cabin to watch some of the Monday night football. At 6:15, I went to the photo shop and bought my boarding photo and had my iris photo taken, it should be back tomorrow. At 6:30, I went to the singles and solos meeting in the Crow's Nest. I stayed about 20 minutes since it was not real exciting and I went to the 3,4,and 5 star cocktail meeting at the Lido pool and had 1 drink before going to the Lido for some fruit and shrimp cocktail as well as some dessert. I went to back to the cabin to work on the blog. Since I didn't get a lot of sleep last night in the hotel, I went to bed early and read for a while.

DFW to San Diego, September 28

 My gate for the flight to San Diego changed from D20 to B11 to B12 to B13 to D4 and I had to take the tram from terminal B to terminal D and while on the tram, a woman tried to get me to take her seat. I did not think that I looked that old.  After getting my bag at the baggage claim the Holland America man took me to where I would catch the Sheraton van. I ended up waiting about 40 minutes for the van and then when I got the hotel, I checked in and was told that my room was not ready and they would text me when it was. After about an hour, I went back to the check-in desk and ask how much longer would it be and he gave me the key. I was supposed to get a letter from HAL explaining the transfer to the ship tomorrow but I did not. Anyway I had a nice room with a view of the marina.
